Joy’s foster dog – Avalanche

Meet my new foster dog Avalanche.
I’m fostering him for The Sanctuary for Senior Dogs.

Avalanche has a sad story  His daddy died and the neighbors noticed that no family was coming to take care of him or take him out of the house. The neighbors were feeding him and he eventually ended up at the Cleveland Kennel. He was very scared there because he is blind, he only has partial sight in one of his eyes. He was also very sad and confused, he didn’t understand what happened to his happy home and his daddy. When he was pulled he came down with a nasty case of kennel cough and had to stay at the Senior Sanctuary office until he wasn’t contagious. Deb, Sanctuary volunteers, Kris the Specialized Care Manager for JoyCares and our own Anne took turns caring for him while he stayed there. Dr. Bob would come and visit with him too!!!! Avalanche was very shut down because he was SOOO confused and sad but everyone worked hard at making him feel loved.

I finally got to bring him home on Wednesday!!!! He has truly made himself at home here and is getting lots of love and attention!!! Sinatra my blind and deaf dog is teaching him how to navigate around the house. Avalanche now goes out into the backyard by himself and he enjoys exploring the backyard. Gazelle is crushin’ on him and she dances around the backyard showing off for him!!! It is real cute and Avalanche is starting to follow her around the yard. Dr. Dude likes to lay with Avalanche when he’s on his bed and Avalanche LOVES to snuggle with Dr. Dude!!!! He’s going to make someone a WONDERFUL companion, he has so much love to give and he is over the moon ADORABLE!!!!!!!
